Overview
CORE ULTRA series CAT7A cables have been tested to 1000MHz, the highest possible for a CAT7A cable to ensure lightning speeds. Each cable is performance optimized with 4 balanced and shielded twisted pairs with an outer braided shield to minimize Alien Near-End Crosstalk (A-NEXT) in the transmission compared to CAT6 whilst also improving Equal-Level Far-End Crosstalk (ELFEXT), Return Loss (RL) and Insertion Loss (IL).
Up to 10Gbps
Suitable for 1Gbps to 10Gbps up to 100m / 328feet.
CORE's Shielded-Pair Design & Alien Crosstalk
With CAT7A able to handle bandwidth up to 10Gbps (10GBASE-T), noise sensitivity increases up to the 1000MHz higher frequencies. When CAT7A cables are bundled with other CAT6A or CAT7A cables, noise is induced into the adjacent cables, referred to as alien crosstalk. This significantly impacts high-speed 10GBASE-T performance, having the potential to reduce speed, lose data and interrupt your network with downtime. CORE's balanced shielded-pair design virtually eliminates this as well as provides immunity to EMI and RF interference. Compared to CAT6A's shielding, this has the additional braided shield layer, forming a double shield in order to minimize alien crosstalk at the higher 1000MHz. Furthermore, the drain wire allows a continuous, low-resistance connection to the cable's metallic shield, resulting in very effective grounding to protect against electrical surges.
Fire Rating
Important where smoke emissions and toxic fumes could pose a risk to human life and sensitive equipment, there are various grades for a cable's fire performance. CORE Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cables are manufactured to pass CPR (Construction Products Regulation) Class Dca whilst other cable manufacturers may only pass Eca. An Eca test is a basic test that only measures vertical flame spread. In addition to this test, Dca has a requirement to test for toxic fumes (acid gas), smoke and flaming droplets, making the CORE LSZH jacket superior.
