Overview

CORE Reference Series speaker cables are designed to provide the ultimate performance with unrivalled quality in cables that are crafted with high-purity 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) to enable you to unlock the full potential of your audio system. That's why when developing a product, we research and test raw materials to find the best as well as test different methods of manufacturing that impact the performance and sound quality.


As our flagship cable, the C-X40 is manufactured with a colossal 4.00mm² conductor in order to provide exceptionally low resistance and superior low-frequency performance. Additionally, carefully optimised construction featuring our CORE-Tube® and CORE-Air® super-stabilised conductor geometry ensures the C-X40 is exceptionally transparent to the signal whilst solving the 'skin effect'. For the dielectric, a high-efficiency micro-porous PTFE is used so that there is virtually no ‘smearing’ or other signal degradation, finished in a Pearl Ultra-Flex® sleeve.


'Skin effect' is created by a cable with a large cross-sectional conductor as high-frequency signals travel around the outside of the conductor instead of the whole conductor. Consequently, hardly any of the conductor is used at high frequencies, therefore resistance increases, resulting in higher distortion and loss of detail. This has a detrimental effect on the fidelity of the sound. CORE-Tube® was created to eliminate the 'skin effect' with its conductors being wound around a hollow tubular polyethylene core, CORE-Air®, to maintain a near-linear signal transfer for high frequencies whilst also providing lower flux density, improving transparency to the sound.    


With this Reference cable, high-frequencies are presented with much more clarity, whilst bass response is more precise in detail.


Dual-layer shielding (Copper Mylar Foil + Copper Braiding) is used to provide RF immunity to eliminate interference.


Lastly, a cable's jacket is just as important. When developing a product, at CORE we always compare and test raw materials to find the best, no matter the cost. That's why we developed Ultra-Flex®, a composite material that is thick and strong to be protective whilst being very flexible and smooth with a glossy finish, allowing the cable to have a tight bend radius without any damage to the internal structure.
