Overview
Klarity's proprietary chipset technology enables the transmission of visually lossless DSC HDMI 2.0 video at 4K60 4:4:4 HDR 10bit up to 90m/295ft over a single CAT cable*.
PoE
With Klarity's private PoE protocol, only the Transmitter is powered, eliminating the need for a power supply to the Receiver.
Slimline
At only 16mm thick, the slimline and compact Receivers can be hidden behind a display discreetly.
HDMI Loop-through
The HDMI loop-through on the Transmitter (Splitter) allows the source to be split into a local display or to be cascaded into another K-90 4K HDR 4POE KIT Splitter or into an extender such as the K-90 4K HDR POE, saving on the cost and space of an HDMI Splitter.
Bi-directional IR
Bi-directional IR allows the IR signal to be used at both Source and Display ends. Source IR is used to control the Source device (such as a satellite receiver) and Display IR is used to control the display (such as using the TV remote control at the HDMI Transmitter's end).
EDID
Automatic EDID requires no configuration to allow source and display 'handshaking' for a seamless integration.
Visually Lossless
To support 4K60 4:4:4 HDR 18G HDMI 2.0, DSC or CSC is required.
The world-renowned company, VESA®, developed DSC for visually lossless compression. This is an approved lossless compression by the HDBaseT association whereas CSC is not approved or recognized by HDBaseT and is classed as a "Third Party Compression".
DSC only affects 4K60 4:4:4 signals. All other signals are uncompressed. It is also an extremely light compression which is done line-by-line.
In comparison, CSC uses Chroma subsampling and bit depth downsampling to reduce the amount of colour in the video signal by maintaining the luminance. This removes pixel bits, up to 50% in 4:4:4 during CSC compression, which cannot be recovered at the Receiver. Once a large part of the colour and dynamic range has been removed, it is impossible to get them back. DSC's line-by-line compression does not suffer from this permanent loss.
Furthermore, text is displayed correctly with DSC but CSC suffers from artefacts being most noticeable with text atop a flat colour, having a major visual impact on source devices such as a PC at 4:4:4, making text blurry. This is also why TV and monitor manufacturers use DSC.
Therefore, when viewing DSC vs original content, VESA® has concluded that the difference is imperceptible to the human eye.
Based on all of this, Klarity chose DSC's superior technology to give you the best HDBaseT 4K60 4:4:4 HDR video quality.
